ONE YEAR AFTER THE PRESIDENTIAL VISIT 20 SEPTEMBER 2025 TO 20 SEPTEMBER 2026

On 20 September 2025, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni visited Buseesa Demonstration Farm in Kibaale District. One year later, the most important question is not simply what happened during the visit, but what has happened because of the visit.

The presidential visit was both an honour and a responsibility. It gave Buseesa national visibility and strengthened our determination to demonstrate that land can be transformed into productive enterprises that create food, income, employment, skills and opportunities for other Ugandans.

ONE YEAR OF PROGRESS

Since the presidential visit, the farm has continued developing an integrated agricultural model.

include:

Farm size: expanded from 4 to approximately 6 acres
Workers: approximately 38
Fish ponds: 3
Tilapia: approximately 20,000 stocked
Poultry : approximately 3,000
Pigs: 48
Goats: 108
Dairy cattle: 3
Rabbits: 56
Bananas: 1.5 acres
Hass avocado: 1 acre
Other enterprises include coffee, pasture and biogas.
The central lesson is integration: crops, livestock, poultry, fish, manure, biogas, food and income should support one another rather than being treated as isolated enterprises.
THE FOUR-ACRE MODEL

Buseesa seeks to demonstrate the principle behind the Four-Acre Model—how a household can organise limited land, diversify enterprises and move from subsistence production towards commercial agriculture.

Our message is:

“We don’t want a farmer to come here simply to admire animals. We want the farmer to understand the business model and ask: what can I adapt to my own land?”

The ultimate measure of success is therefore not only the number of animals at Buseesa, but how many households can take the knowledge and apply it on their own land.

GOVERNMENT-RELEVANT IMPACT

Buseesa demonstrates how commercial agriculture can contribute to:

Food security + household income + employment + youth skills + women’s participation + climate resilience + farmer learning.

The farm’s diversification provides several sources of food and income and demonstrates practical ways of using available resources more efficiently.

THE NEXT STAGE: 2026–2028

Our vision is to develop Buseesa into a stronger:

Practical demonstration farm
Farmer training centre
Source of agricultural employment and skills
Agro-tourism destination
Platform for replication of successful farming practices
Our ambition is not simply to make Buseesa bigger, but to make its knowledge and impact bigger.

MESSAGE TO THE PRESIDENT

“Your Excellency, when you visited Buseesa in 2025, you gave us encouragement and a responsibility. One year later, we are continuing to build. Our hope is that, when the opportunity comes, you return and see what has happened since your first visit—and see how Buseesa can become a stronger platform for demonstrating wealth creation, commercial agriculture and practical learning for Ugandan farmers.”
